Wishing a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

GCCA India is excited to share the newsletter, highlighting the activities since August 2024. We have signed two memorandums of understanding (MOUs) aimed at decarbonizing the Indian cement and concrete sector and participated in various sessions to represent the sector. This year has been one of significant action, and we look forward to more engagements in the next year.

Driving Sustainability: Collaboration with NCB for Cement Sector Decarbonization

GCCA India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Council for Cement & Building Materials during the 18th NCB International Conference and Exhibition on Cement and Concrete, held at Yashobhoomi, IICC Dwarka, Delhi. This partnership aims to promote research in the area of decarbonization within the Indian cement and concrete sector. The MoU was signed by Dr. L. P. Singh, Director General of NCB, and Mr. Manoj Kumar Rustagi, Director of GCCA India. This collaboration will strengthen ongoing efforts to decarbonize the Indian cement and concrete industry by 2070.

Collaboration Between GCCA India and Xynteo’s Build Ahead Coalition to drive Decarbonisation of India's Built Environment

GCCA India announced the partnership between GCCA India and Xynteo's Build Ahead coalition, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to drive the decarbonisation of India’s built environment with low-carbon cement and concrete. This collaboration combines GCCA India’s industry expertise with the Build Ahead coalition's collective efforts to promote sustainable construction.

Kaustubh Phadke participated in a panel discussion at Business and Financing Models to Support the Transition to Zero-Emission Freight by Climate Policy Initiative on 24th October 2024. He elaborated on the adoption of electric trucks, financing models, and conditions for EFV deployment, and provided the cement sector perspective, which is one of the early adopters of the EV for transportation.

Low Carbon Industry Transition in India’s Steel and Cement Sector

Pashmin Dee, attended a workshop titled "Low Carbon Industry Transition in India’s Steel and Cement Sector" in Delhi on November 5, 2024. Organized by the India-Sweden Industry Transition Partnership, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and the European Union Climate Dialogues. The workshop aimed to bring together key stakeholders to accelerate the shift towards a low-carbon pathway in these sectors. Participants engaged in discussions to review the preliminary findings of a study on the steel and cement industries.
